Chimney Breast & Wall Removals
Here at Essex garage conversions and builders we pride ourselves on removing disused chimney breasts and removing walls to create a better size family room or open space.
Removing a chimney breast or a wall, needs to be done in the correct way as it is part of the house structure. Supports are put in place whilst removing the chimney is in process to take the wait (load) above, without being supported could cause massive structural damage or potential areas to collapse.

Whether you want to remove the whole chimney stack from top to bottom, by sheeting all the appropriate areas where work is b being commenced for the least dust as possible traveling through out the rest of the property. Once removed we can repair the roof assuring its water tight, repair the ceilings and plaster, repair the wall with bonding & plastering, repair the timber work in the floor and match the skirting so your house is back in use.
Other options you can just remove part of the chimney breast by inserting supports such as Gallows Brackets & RSJ’S if thats more preferable for yourself.
If you are happy and decide for us to go ahead and Remove the chimney breast or a load bearing wall we will discuss a start date for the work to begin and we will make contact with your local council.
Your local council must be made aware that you are removing the Chimney breast, whether its part of the chimney, or all of it. The work needs to carried out under a ‘Building notice’ (this does not require planning permission) Your local council will assess our work and sign a completion certificate at the end to confirm the chimney was removed acceptably and to structural specification. The council will also charge a fee for this (usually less than 500.00 pounds)
